County Court Judgments against businesses show decrease

For the seventh consecutive year, the number of debt judgements against businesses in England and Wales in the third quarter of 2016 has fallen. The registry trust, a non-profit organisation that collect information on judgements across Britain, have shown these figures in a recent report.

There were 19,379 county court judgments against businesses in England and Wales during the third quarter of 2016, this is a fall of 25 percent since the previous year. The total value of the county court judgements was £71.5m, this has also decreased by 12 percent. Although the total number and value of the county court judgements fell to the lowest level since before the financial crisis, the average value of each debt increased for the first time in four years by 17 percent to £3,686.

In the third quarter of 2016, the high court issued 26 judgements totalling a value of £26.3m. This created the highest third quarter average on record with the value of a high court judgements being just over £1m.
